We recently hired Melody Roberts with Out of Home Creative to design a self-promotional DOOH. Melody has been designing OOH since 1999 and in 2015, she founded an outdoor advertising and billboard design firm.
DESIGN IN ADVERTISING
Since founding Out of Home Creative, Melody has designed billboards for local, national, and international clients. She has an in-depth understanding of out of home advertising, not only from a creative standpoint but also from a sales and operational aspect. Melody’s work was been nominated for an OBIE and she’s won numerous state and national OOH awards including a Silver Addy.
When designing digital outdoor advertising Melody’s preference is to encourage clients not to put all their information on one digital display but instead to utilize digital rotation and create a campaign.
As an example, The Forked Wine (see below), she felt the client’s logo may not be legible, so she left off the graphic and focused on their name but still showed the entire logo on the front of the barrel for reference. Because the logo is repeated, that was an opportunity for her to design another digital and use the image of the barrel in a different way to advertise their operating hours. To provide more flexibility with digital, she also updates the digital weekly so the client can showcase weekend specials.
With Rapids Water Park (see below), the campaign was presented as a countdown to opening day and targeted towards Spring Breakers while highlighting several rides.
We requested Melody use a *POP ART* look for a Formetco promotional series and she took that direction and came up with visuals and taglines.
